April Phillips - Actress | | | | | | | | April has been acting professionally since the age of 15 when she became a company actor with the Four Seasons Theatre in Wanganui. She attributes her "basic training" to director David Smiles, with whom she performed in many classic comedies and farces.
Highlights of her television work include being part of the core cast of satirical show McPhail & Gadsby for two series. April loved working with comedy veterans Jon and David, the variety of roles she got to play, and the pressure of recording some of the show live in front of a studio audience. She also relished her recent role on TV's "Lost Children" playing a wicked orphanage matron and working again with actor John Bach who she had previously worked with on TV's "Duggan".
Most recently April has appeared in Peter Jackson's movie "Lovely Bones" and played a historic character in a "yet to be named" TV drama series to be released later in 2009.
April performed her own comedy sketches for several years with acclaimed female comedy group Hen’s Teeth. Her “Jenny Taylior Show” was a spoof of US chat shows in which she performed a send-up of Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You”.
